聊个应景的话题：“跨年”英语怎么说？
今晚是“跨年夜大”，想必大家都有自己的跨年操持：有人去酒吧，有人去闹市区，有人去吃自助餐，有人去影院看电影…
实在“跨年”，不便是“度过新年前夜”的意思么？用我们都会的英语，可以把“跨年”翻成：spend the New Year’s Eve，是不是很大略？
第二个想跟大家分享的表达，来自于我收藏的一篇CNN曾经的宣布。这是CNN对付2019年跨年时的宣布，很小一个段落，但用词很华美：

这个小段落密集涌现了很多主要单词，归纳一下：
reveler：/ ˈrevələr/ n.狂欢者
ring in：庆祝…的开端
span: vt.贯穿、覆盖
...and beyond:以及其他
illuminate: /ɪˈluːmɪneɪt/ vt.点亮
festooned：/fɛˈstuːn/ vt.装饰…
