1. something was broken in my engine. 我的发动机里有个东西破坏了。 英文中很多被动表达但是汉语翻译出来是主动的意思。这个句子实用性也非常广，可以直接拿来用。 比如说something was broken in my bike. 我自行车有缺点了。
2.Neither....nor, 既不是...也不是... 写作里面用到会提分的。 Neither Sunny nor I heard you call. 桑妮和我都没有听到你叫。
3. It was a question of life or death for me. 对我来说这是个生与去世的问题。句子很俊秀吧。忍不住会想到哈姆雷特里面那 句经典：To be, or not to be, that is the question. 生存还是毁灭，这是一个问题。

The first night, then, I went to sleep on the sand, a thousand miles from any human habitation. I was more isolated than a shipwrecked sailor on a raft in the middle of the ocean. Thus you can imagine my amazement, at sunrise, when I was awakened by an odd（古怪的） little voice. It said:
“If you please– draw me a sheep!”
“What!”
“Draw me a sheep!”
I jumped to my feet, completely thunderstruck-(['θʌndɚ'strʌk] 遭雷击的,极其震荡的，惊得木鸡之呆的). I blinked my eyes hard. I looked carefully all around me. And I saw a most extraordinary small person, who stood there examining me with great seriousness. （第一天晚上我就睡在这阔别人间烟火的大沙漠上。我频年夜海中伏在小木排上那遭遇船难者还要孤独得多。而在第二天拂晓，当一个奇怪的声音叫醒我的时候，你们可以想到我当时是多么吃惊。一个小小的声音说道：

我一下子就跳了起来，像是受到雷击一样平常。我使劲地揉了揉眼睛，仔细地看了看。我瞥见一个十分奇怪的小家伙严明地朝我凝眸望着。）
这一段描写的就更好了，一个人孤独的时候可以这样说 I was more isolated than a shipwrecked sailor on a raft in the middle of the ocean。（我频年夜海中伏在小木排上那遭遇船难者还要孤独得多。）； 当你想表达吃惊震荡的时候又可以这样说you can imagine my amazement , when I heard Lily‘s voice. 也可以这样表达 I jumped to my feet, completely thunderstruck。
还有一个单词口语中非常常见。那便是 What! 什么？啊？说啥嘞？什么事？等等，在不同语境中能表达很多的意思。
